training a dragon and dragon rider

"one, you dont need training to know some humbleness. and two, belor you need some training on that. anyway, you train killaca and ill train belor." she said that with a curtness she neever used on him.she got up and walked to the mouth of the cave. " does your wings still hurt?" she asked a little more calmly.

Belor followed the larger dragon, No, they're fine now. How long will I be away from Killaca? I understand training can take solitude, but no more than a couple days at a time?

a low rumble erupted in her chest. " no, for now its only for a few hours. we're going to learn about plants today..." she walked down the low slope circling around the mountain.

Odo nodded to the large dragon and again bowed but this time to both dragons. "until later" He said quietly and showed Killaca to his home. (from now on killaca will be posting on Odo's home in the elves house) "oh before I leave when the new rider and dragon comes please send the rider to me and I will come to meet the dragon later" Odo said as he left the area

Belor stopped for a moment, then following again.

Plants?

It was a little incredulous, but he didn't question it, he was however, far too eager.

she continued down. " yes, sometimes your rider will be disoriented and confused. you will learn about plants so you can help heal, guard and keep yourself alive. you are the gaurdian of your rider. without you, there will be no such thing as a dragon rider. and you also need to learn about plants because there might not be any animals around to eat."

The first of Aiedial's speech made sense, the latter...

PLANTS?!? He simply could not imagine eating something like that. It was like eating bark or dirt, what on earth was a better nutritional treat then meat.

I'll do what you ask of me Aiedail, because I trust that with your help I will become much stronger then I ever could on my own, and in a much shorter time frame.

"listen, plants hold as much nutrients as meat. maybe even more. why do you think elves live so long? anyway there are certain plants that are edible for us, and even some rock can help with our fire. making it more powerful." she had lowerd her head to the tiny green plants around her, careful not to step on them.

I'm eating plants, and rocks for today's training? So be it.

He then knelt down to, examining the different plants.

Where do we start?

"we start with this one." she began to dig and pulled out to what looked like a yellow puffball.

Belor sat still, his gaze shifting from the puff ball to the large dragon.

And...

"its called a mushroom. if you punture it and it has dust in it, dont eat it. its poisonouse that way and dont breathe in the spores. but if its soft, eat it. its a rabbit worth of protein." she puntured it and it was soft. she cut it in half and ate the smaller half. "go ahead."

Belor ate the mushroom, attempting not to hesitate. It certainly didn't have the same spice that meat had, that irresistible attraction, but he could definitely taste. Well, nothing. It was something to chew on and it had no real flavor. However, at the same time, he could almost feel it giving him energy. Reaching out a claw, he began tipping mushrooms tentatively, checking for poisons. Those that didn't have poisons were gobbled, the rest, left to die.

And next?

"now if your thirsty you go to one of these." she walked to a high looking cactus. it looked shriveled and spiky.

Belor then looked at her quizzically.

I know better then to latch onto something that spiny with my mouth.

"thats why you cut it." she retracted her claw and cut off the top. there seemed to be fruit inside. she licked the sump and directed him to the cut off part.

Belor walked over to it gingerly, licking the inside, before sucking on it.

It's certainly sweet, but yes, refreshing.

" you can also dig for animals. this i am not going to show you. listen for beating hearts and dig for them. its amusing." she layed down on a patch of sand sunning herself.

Instead of lowering one ear to the ground, Belor lowered his entire body, his chin flat against the soil. Sensing something, he leaped to a different patch of grass, and started tearing it with his claws. When he got deep enough, whatever had been there was already gone, disappearing down another of it's tunnel.

Hmph.

He attempted again, this time simply biting into the earth and hauled up a chunk of it. As he spat it out, his claws came up with a small badger. It was quickly placed in his mouth and broken, then swallowed. It was certain, he was definitely growing, he had to be atleast twice as large as when he had first hatched.

she looked up. " good. now we can start on flying since you got the basics. we'll come back onto this subject later."

Belor grinned inwardly, finally, something worth while.

Alright, where do we start?

Lamir strode into the area with the little dragon contentedly on his shoulder, feeding on a small strip of salted meat. He chuckled as she ate it, enjoying her company more and more every day she was with him. He looked up to see the dragon who had given him the ride to this area, and another dragon he had never seen before. His legs were still stiff and painful because of the ride with the dragon, but he managed to walk a few steps further.
"Hail, dragon."

she got up from sunning herself and streched. " well, i see your alright. and the guinea dragon?" she said staring at her polar oposite, the white baby dragon.

"That's not exactly a nice way to put it. Shes just.....growing." Said Lamir defensively, offering his dragon another strip of meat. He was now accustomed to keeping strips of meat in a small pouch around his waist.
