A bet with a friend

Lamir walked through the village of Therinsford, quickly locating a tavern and walking in. His eyes wandered to an empty table, and he walked over and sat at it. Within an hour he had four men at his table, and every had a drink. They were all laughing when Lamir looked out a window and noticed a mountain in the distance. When one of the men followed his gaze, he chuckled and said.
"Bet you all the money in my pouch you can't get to the cave at the top."

"Oh yeah? Your on." Lamir said, chugging down his drink. He stood up, and headed off toward the mountain.

Lamir was soon at the base of the mountain, and it looked pretty high from there. He sighed, shifted his pack around, and started his climb. After two days of climbing, he was near the top. Every move had to be careful, he had already slipped twice, and almost fallen to his death once. He began scaling the side of the mountain, hoping to whatever being was out there that he would survive long enough to share the story over a drink. He knew the man who had made the bet well, Fane was his name. They were good friends, Fane was a blacksmith. Lamir began humming to distract himself from the freezing cold and extreme heights. He then pulled himself onto a ledge. The ledge led into a small cave that seemed to have been carved into the mountain side not too long ago. It was filled with snow, and the only place for shelter. Lamir went into the cave to try and find proof that he made it to the top.

Light caught onto this big rounded rock that was barely able to be spotted over the snow.

Lamir glanced over at the light that was gleaming somewhere in the cave. He figured it was some kind of shiny stone, or gem he could take back to prove he had been up there, so he walked slowly over to the light. Having a hard time finding it, he finally located a small, round surface protruding from the snow. Lamir dug around the surface, not wanting to touch it until he could figure out what it was. What he found was an extremely large, white rock. Or at least, he thought it was a rock. It was perfectly rounded, smooth, and shiny. It was so beautiful that Lamir couldn't resist, and he reached out his hand to touch the stone.

The minute his hand's touched the stone a crack appeared. Noises could be heard in the stone, and another crack appeared this one larger than the last. All the sudden the stone cracked more and more, until a tiny head popped out and looked up at Lamir.

Lumir jumped a bit, then smiled at the head. His eyes were warm, as if he had just seen a kitten pop out of the egg. He chuckled to himself.
"I heard tales, but this is amazing!" He said.
Lumir thought of what Fane would say, what he would do with the dragon, and various other things.
"Hey there, your an awful cute pup aren't ya?" Lamir said in a soothing tone he used when talking to animals. He reached out his hand to pat it on the head.

The dragon looked up at his hand. Sniffing it cautiously and then touching it. A green light appeared and enveloped the dragon's head and Lamir's palm. Once the light disappeared a scar was left behind on Lamir's palm.

Lamir looked down at his hand, it burned, but he was used to pain by now.
"Your a curious little one. Whats your name? Can you Talk? Are you a girl?" Lamir asked all of these questions a little slowly, perhaps because he was so used to talking to animals. It never occurred to Lamir that the dragon would know his tongue, let alone how it would respond. But he waited for a response anyway, he had heard many things about dragons, one of which was that they could read human minds at any time, but he knew that was a lie.

The dragon looked in puzzlement at Lamir. Obviously she was too young to understand this all the way, but she will learn it as time progresses. She sniffed around, and got away from her shell in search of food.

Lamir chuckled a bit. Of course it was a myth. He watched the dragon get out of its shell, and realized it must be pretty hungry.
"You are a dragon, so you must want some kind of meat..." Lamir said, shuffling through his pack. He found strips of salted meat wrapped up in leaves for storage in his pack. He opened up the wrapping and put it on the ground in front of the dragon.
"This is so............Wait till the guys hear about you."

The dragon slowly walked to the meat. Smelling it until she was satisfied enough to try a piece. After the first piece she gobbled it all up, and laid on her back in satisfaction.

Lamir smiled at the little thing. How could so many fear such a thing? It was adorable! Then it hit him. Maybe the guys would be afraid of her, dragons had been used for destruction in the past. Oh well, that would be sorted out later. Lamir decided to try touching her again, so he reached out to stroke her upturned belly.

A kinda purr noise erupted from the dragon's throat. Obviously it like to be petted. She got up and walked over to Lamir, and start to cuddle him.

"Your pretty cute little........uh......it?" Lamir said, petting it and laughing. He then thought...."Your a girl right?"

The dragon looked at Lamir with a duh look. She enjoyed being petted and started to hum.

"Would you like....food? Sleep? What?" Lamir asked, continuing to stroke the dragon as he went through his bag.

The dragon curled up in a ball and went quickly to sleep.

Lumir pushed himself smoothly to a wall, letting his head back and relaxing with the dragon on his lap.

Quickly, the dragon started to shiver from all the coldness. Snuggling closer to Lamir for warmth and comfort.

Lamir took off his cloak, wrapping the dragon in the cloak. He smiled down at it and dozed off to sleep.

The next day, the dragon has already grown quite a few inches. Before Lamir has woken up, she has already walked around and looked at this new world before her.

Lamir woke the next morning a bit late. He shivered, wrapped himself in a cloak, and walked out of the cave. He began searching for his dragon.

The dragon was outside walking back with 2 baby bunnies in her mouth. She puffed out her chest, obviously very proud of her triumph. Giving one bunny to Lamir, she started to eat.

He patted on the head and said in a very proud voice.
"Good job! That was awesome!"

Finishing her bunny, she looks up at Lamir. Somehow she got a picture into his mind of her eating more food.

"Woah....that was....weird." Lumir said, picking her up. He walked over to his pack for more meat. He picked out some more salted meat and handed her some, eating a strip himself.
